EXCELLENTVerified A pleasure to stay here We had a lovely time staying at Aydon guest house. A very welcoming family that couldn't do enough for you. The guest house is so cosy and everything you need is supplied for you. There is also a lovely peaceful garden which we sat in during the hot weather. Very clean and beds were so comfy. Private parking right in the heart of Alnwick. A real home charm and home comfort guest house. The proprietors Arthur and jane can honestly not do too much for you, super friendly and helpful. Breakfast and accommodation perfect. Also they have Barney the dog mooching around and he's a delight. Aydon House was exactly what we wanted and needed for this short trip. The location was convenient (five minutes walk to Barter Books!) and couple of minutes more walk to the town centre, which is pleasant and restful to amble around, with lovely cafes (excellent coffee in Henry’s), great fish and chips at Carlo’s, but be aware - the portions are HUGE. The Museum above Hardy’s fishing shop was fascinating, even non-fishers. The hotel itself was an absolute joy - our room was comfortable and pretty, excellent shower, with everything we needed. The breakfasts were delicious and generous, a great start to the day. Finally, but so important, we were very well looked after by Jane and Arthur. They have been here for 45ish years and they know how to make their guests feel very welcome and at home.Posted onVerified Trad BB We had one large room with a double and a single bed and a small ensuite. There is a main road alongside, but you did not hear the traffic noise with the windows closed. A good cooked a breakfast is included. There is good parking on site and the property is only a short walk from the town centre and an even shorter walk from the famous Alnwick Gardens (so you can save their car park charge!). Our room was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. We had a great stay here! Jane and Arthur were wonderful hosts! The place was spotless, cozy and warm. Jane and Arthur were kind and generous, they made arrangements for me at breakfast since I’m vegan, and Arthur very kindly offered us breakfast at even 6 am when we had to leave early. Thank you to Arthur and Jane for a wonderful 3 night stay in your lovely bed and breakfast and for looking after us, nothing was too much trouble. Comfy beds, everything needed in the rooms, including hairdryer. Nice breakfast to set us up for the day. Car parking at back of house, interesting entry on side road, just before Lidi. Central location to countryside and beach. Lots to do and see. A visit to Alnwick castle and gardens is a must and so glad we called in at Barter Books, model train running round top of the bookcases, amazing. Need to book meals in advance in town, quite busy when we were there. Lovely restaurant/ meal, Tankerville Arms in Eglingham also Hope and Anchor pub in Alnmouth. Lovely people (and dog) Great welcome, Our room was at the top of the house which we loved, quiet and could hear owls at night. You might struggle with stairs if unfit. I am 76 and did not struggle. Beautifully convenient for walking into town and back from pub. We were in the town yet no problem parking.Posted onVerified A Little Gem Had a few nights here with friend recently. The place gives you a hug as soon as you enter. Décor is traditional and spotlessly clean. Lots of little touches make it home from home. Owners Arthur & Jane are super friendly, as is Barney the dog, and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Just a short walk to the town or the Oaks hotel for evening meals. Although on a main road, this goes quiet at night. Would definitely stay again. Tip: To access the car park, turn left as though you were going to Lidl, then Aydon Gardens is immediately left. The entrance is the first turn on the left and you only see the sign once turned in.Posted onVerified A HOME FROM HOME STAY IN ALNWICK MY WIFE AND I HAVE JUST SPENT THE LAST WEEKEND AT AYDON HOUSE IN ALNWICK AND ARE FULL OF PRAISE FOR THE OWNERS, ARTHUR AND JANE. THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. THE DOUBLE ROOM WE STAYED IN WAS EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE AND KEPT VERY CLEAN AND TIDY, AND PROVIDED ALMOST EVERY ITEM THAT YOU COULD REQUIRE. THE BREAKFASTS THAT WERE PROVIDED WERE DELICIOUS AND VERY WELL COOKED. A FREE AND SPACIOUS PARKING SPACE WAS ALSO PROVIDED AND COULD BE CLEARLY SIGHTED FROM OUR BEDROOM.
